Buddy is a ball of energy and is looking for a new home after he was returned to us recently.
It is imperative that Buddy lives with people who have owned the breed previously (or another scent hound) and are willing to continue with his training. With the use of positive reward based training, this intelligent young boy will pick up any training quickly as he is highly motivated by priase and rewards (high value treats)
Buddy has been good around other dogs, however he has turned into a frustrated greeter and will bark on sight of seeing another dog. Once introduced to another dog, Buddy can be happy and relaxed and enjoys playing with them; he can be a little full on at times, so matching playstyles is important as Buddy could be too much for some other dogs, however, because of his greeting style, we would recommend interactions to be both onlead and supervised until he has attended some socialising classes. Buddy has even ignored dogs that have been barking at him. We would recommend Buddy was the only dog in the home but that he attends dog socialising classes.
Buddy will need to have a good sized, fully secure garden he can play off lead in as it will be a long time before he can come off lead (if at all) With some further training, Buddy has the potential to be a truly wonderful boy. It would be advisable to have Buddy on a long line in the garden, so you can safely call him away and distract him, should he get a scent of another animal.
He is a very affectionate dog and loves human interaction and company, so would need his home alone time built up gradually as he isn’t used to being left for very long.
