Danny arrived from the pound we work with, with his little friend Toffee. He is an older boy, but still very active and loves to be off exploring (as terriers do!)
It would appear that Danny hasn’t had any previous training, but he loves is food and treats and will happily work for them. He would benefit from his new owners spending a little time teaching him a few basic commands to enable him to use his brain, which is so important for active little terriers like Danny. This will also help him build a bond with his new owner and give him some focus.
Danny loves being off the lead and will go off exploring and investigating his surroundings, so if new owners are wanting to be able to let Danny off the lead in open spaces, he will require some recall training. Danny will require a fully secure garden which he can potter about in, he loves to be outside.
Danny is not overly comfortable around other dogs and will growl if they invade his space, given a little distance, Danny isn’t worried by them. He does have a lovely bond with his kennel mate Toffee. In time, with careful introductions and positive associations, he will learn to relax more around them. Therefore, we would only look to place Danny in a home with no other dogs, or his kennel mate Toffee.
In a home with people who have owned dogs previously, Danny will make a fun and active addition.
Can you offer this lovely boy a loving and permanent new home?
