Obie is a wonderful older boy who is looking for his new forever home.
He already knows a few basic commands and is willing and eager to work for his food/treats. He currently knows sit, paw and can be lured into a down. His recall though, will need a little work as he likes to do things in his own time. Obie doesn’t do anything at speed and even when he thinks he’s running fast, he looks like he’s running in slow motion. Obie is strong on the lead and that isn’t due to him excessively pulling, but his sheer size and strength, so it will be important that owners are strong enough to control him should he decide to investigate something.
Obie is a little underweight at present, but is currently being fed on three meals a day and he is gaining weight at a steady pace. New owners will need to ensure they continue to build him up, but not make him too heavy. His exercise requirements will also need to be built on gradually as he does lack some muscle tone in his rear end and he becomes tired if he has been out for too long.
Obie has been mixed with several dogs since he has been with us and has proved to be good with them. He adapts and mirrors their playstyle. If he was to live with another dog, we would advise he lived with a medium-large sized dog as he doesn’t know his size or strength.
In a home with owners who have experience with large breeds and can ensure they can meet his requirements, Obie will make a very loving addition to a home.
Can you offer this lovely boy a loving and permanent new home?
