Goldie is a lovely, affectionate boy who arrived to us as a stray from the local pound. Being a stray hasn’t affected him in any way and is looking for new owners who are experienced with Lurchers and have owned a dog before.
Goldie has slowly adjusted to the routines here at SDR. He loves his handlers and is very welcoming and affectionate to visitors, but isn’t keen on being on his own. It will benefit him to build the home alone time up gradually as he has shown distress when left alone in his kennel.
Goldie has been mixed with dogs and has been very friendly towards dogs his size or bigger. However he has shown signs of a high prey drive when being introduced to dogs smaller than him. Goldie could live with a female dog of similar size, this would be pending dog mixes.
Goldie appears to only know 'sit' at present so he would require basic training including recall. He loves running around freely in our enclosed paddock but currently isn't allowed off lead in open areas as his recall is non-exsistent. Basic training would give him the mental stimulation he needs and would benefit him in ways of confidence, socialisation and learning basic commands.
Goldie is very welcoming and affectionate towards people and is looking for a forever family that would be able to give him all the love and affection he has always wanted. In the right home, Goldie would be a very sweet, loving addition to your family.
