Maisie came into the rescue from a local pound we work closely with, prior to that she was an unclaimed stray. Since her arrival she has settled in well and has become accustomed to the daily routines.
Maisie loves to explore when out and about and will do this in her own time. She is also very happy to greet new people when out walking and will most likely roll over so she can have a belly rub.
She currently only knows sit and this is not always performed when asked so we would recommend she attends some basic training classes as this will also help her to bond more with her new owners. She will also need to learn a solid recall before being let off lead in public as she comes back occasionally when called even when treats are being offered.
Maisie has been mixed with various dogs here at the rescue and we have found that she prefers to interact with smaller dogs but we would recommend that she be the only dog in the home so that her new owners can give her all the attention she deserves.
As you may have noticed she does have a bald patch on the back of her neck which was caused by another dog attack which happened prior to her arrival here at the rescue. This does not seem to have an effect on her behaviour towards people, but it has made her more wary of meeting new dogs especially larger breeds such as staffordshire bull terriers, lurchers etc.
Maisie is a sweet, kind and gentle girl who would make the perfect addition to the right home. She will need regular walks and extra activities to keep her entertained and to help her bond with her new owners.
Can you offer this lovely girl a loving and permanent new home?
