Ruby has settled in since her arrival here at Stokenchurch Dog Rescue, although she has shown signs of minor separation anxiety when being left alone so the home alone time will need to be built up gradually.
She is a wonderful girl who loves to receive attention from anyone who will give it to her, she enjoys interacting with her handlers and will take a treat or two calmly when they are offered.
She has been mixed with a few dogs here at the rescue and we have found that she would be better suited to being the only dog in the home, she is however quite happy to walk past other dogs but if they get too close or become too excited she does not like it – she would benefit from some reactive dog training classes and/or some controlled socialisation.
Ruby is a very clever girl and currently knows quite a few commands already such as “sit”, “paw” and “down” but she has the potential to learn so many more and would benefit from continuous mental stimulation as well as physical stimulation.
She will need to learn a solid recall before being let off lead in public as she can get distracted, this can be achieved with positive reinforcement training and treats.
When she has been out for her walks she has been very good when meeting new people and is happy to say hello and then carry on her walk exploring her new surroundings making sure she does not miss a good smell or sight.
In the right home with owners who have had German Shepherds, Ruby will make a wonderful addition to the family.
Can you offer this lovely girl a loving and permanent new home?
