Shelley is a sweet and nervous girl who arrived with us as a stray from the local pound. She is very worried around new people and in unfamiliar places, and it does take her a while to come round. She is just starting to come out of her shell now and show her affectionate side. New owners will need to give Shelley the time and space she needs to become comfortable in her new environment. They will also need to understand that she will not be good around visitors straight away and shouldn't push her into situations that she is uncomfortable with.

She enjoys having a good explore in our enclosed areas, and as such would benefit from having an garden that she could wander around in. However new owners will have to make certain it is fully secure with no small holes that she could squeeze through, and a 6 foot fence. At present she doesn't seem overly interested in toys, however once she is settled in a home environment and her confidence has increased, this may change.

Shelley doesn't appear to know any commands at present, and so will need some basic training. Using positive reward based training would be a good way for new owners to bond with Shelley and help increase her confidence.

When mixed with other dogs, Shelley is cautious but will approach them and say hello in a calm and friendly manner, if they are not being too boisterous. Once she has said hello she is happy to wander off and continue her exploring. As such Shelley could live with another dog, that is calm and of a similar size to her, who won't be too much for her.

Shelley will need owners who have experience with nervous dogs and are prepared to give her the time she needs to settle and gain her confidence. They will also need to be understanding that she may take a while to fully trust them. In the right home, Shelley will make a wonderful and sweet addition.

Can you offer this lovely girl a loving and permanent new home?
