Toby has settled in well since his arrival at Stokenchurch and is always happy to greet his handlers when they enter his kennel.
He has already learnt quite a few commands such as sit, paw, stay, stand and is more than capable of learning so much more. He does need to be taught a solid recall before he can be let off lead in public.
Toby is easily motivated during training by rewarding him for the correct behaviour/command with treats and positive attention.
Since his arrival we have mixed Toby with various dogs but we have found that he does not get on with them so would need to be the only dog in the home. Toby would benefit from attending dog reactivity classes to help him to become more accepting when meeting different dogs.
Toby is a lovely boy who likes meeting new people when out on his walks and will happily take treats from these new friends. He can get a little excited when greeting/meeting them and does jump up to say hello which will need to be addressed with positive reward based training.
Toby loves to play with toys when given the chance but he does tend to run off with the toys during playtime and will only drop them in his own time. To make the playtime more fun it will be a good idea to teach him fetch so that Toby can interact with his new owners more during play.
He will make a great addition in the right home with owners who are able to keep him mentally and physically fit.
He would enjoy regular walks and could benefit from extra games during the day.
Can you offer this lovely boy a loving and permanent new home?
