Wellington is a sensitive and insecure boy who is looking for understanding owners that will help him with his anxieties.
Wellington suffers with separation anxiety so is looking for a home where his new owners would be around to help him feel safe and secure and have home alone time build up gradually.
Wellington is worried by other dogs and doesn’t know how to interact with them. He can become quite stressed and vocal when seeing other dogs, so owners will need to continue with his behavioural work once home. He is highly treat motivated, so rewarding him for calm behaviour around other dogs works well when he is under threshold. Due to his reactivity, Wellington is muzzled on walks, but this really doesn’t bother him as he can still be rewarded with tasty treats.
Wellington is looking for a calm home in a quiet, rural area with a large fully secure garden that he can play in and enjoy. Due to how stressed Wellington becomes when outside the home on walks, having a secure garden will be hugely beneficial to Wellington. He can be stimulated mentally through interactive games, calming scent work and learning new behaviours. He can also become stressed by lots of coming and going outside his home, so somewhere nice and quiet is going to be important to help Wellington overcome his stress and anxiety.
In a home with owners who have experience with the breed and are willing to continue working with Wellington and his anxiety he will make a wonderful companion. It’s important not to put any pressure on Wellington as he will struggle and shut down and this could make him more anxious and worried.
Can you offer this lovely boy a loving and permanent new home?
