Introducing the ever so delightful Patsy, who made her way to us after being found straying. Patsy has been with us since August 2023, in which she has taken kennel life in her stride making many two legged friends along the way but is now in search for a retirement home where she can enjoy the calmer, more relaxed life.

It was found that Patsy had a type of cancer, Carcinoma Grade 1 which has been removed with good margins.  The form of cancer that Patsy had has a low return rate which is good news. Patsy is also hard of hearing and doesn’t see too well, but this is just age related.  You wouldn’t know though as nothing gets Patsy down and is a proper robust little Terrier.

She is a beautiful older dog who may have a few grey hairs, but still possesses a spark of energy. Despite her age, Patsy enjoys going for her walks and exploring the outdoors, though she prefers a slower pace. She is happy to go for these walks with anybody that she meets, however she prefers introductions to be slow and gentle as she can’t hear or see very well it can startle her if you jump straight in with fuss.  Patsy doesn’t seem to have much basic training but is genuinely a well-mannered lady although can be vocal at times.  With a girl of her age, she will need owners who can accept her more for who she is and are just going to give her a home where she can enjoy life.

Patsy will be looking for a home where she is the only pet in the home, this is due to the fact most dogs she can be reactive to if they get to close, and if given the chance she will try to nip at them. She has met senior male border collie, she seemed a bit better with him although very pushy with the sniffing and barking in his face, but when walking she did calm down. We do feel she might be able to have an older, calmer walking friend, but must be slow, careful introductions.

Any home alone time will need to be built up gradually whilst she adjusts to her new surroundings.  She can be a little vocal at first but will normally settle in her bed after a short time.

If you are looking for a senior companion who doesn’t act her age and has plenty of character then Patsy could be the dog for you, providing you understand and take into consideration the needs of a senior dog.

The adoption fee for Patsy is £140
