Romeo and his partner Ronni (who has now been rehomed) came to SDR as unfortunately, their previous owner could not give them the time they needed. Romeo can be a sensitive boy at times but is a sweet boy and always pleased to see his carers and have a fuss and a cuddle from them.

Meeting people - Romeo can be a little shy when he meets someone new and will wait in the background before coming over to see you. He does not like having his back touched if he does not know you and will move away if he feels scared. Romeo likes to greet new people at his own pace, and this involves giving you a good sniff from head to toe, once he is happy in your company, he then loves a good fuss. Romeo is muzzle-trained, and he will be required to wear a muzzle when out in public.

Food & Treats - In his previous home Romeo was fed a raw food diet, but due to lack of freezer space, we moved him onto Arden Grange which he is doing well on. Romeo cannot have any chicken-based food as he has an allergy to this. He really enjoys his food and eats quite quickly. We would recommend a slow feeder bowl to ensure he cannot inhale his food too fast.

Walking & exercise - Romeo has lots of energy to use up and he gets extremely excited at the prospect of going out for a walk. When out on his walk he does like to pull, so this will require some training in that department. Romeo is not fazed by passing traffic.

Travel - Romeo can be a little unsettled when travelling. He is a little nervous when in the car and will sometimes whinge but will settle down.

Play - He has a huge amount of energy to use up and loves nothing more than a good run around our enclosed area here at SDR. He loves any form of toy, but he is partial to footballs, flirt poles and a good dip in a paddling pool. In his previous home, he was taken to agility once a week to help burn off some of his energy. Finding an enclosed secure exercise area is a must so he can get off lead and burn some energy off.

Living with children - Romeo did not live with children in his previous home but did however have visiting children around a few times a year. Due to how Romeo can react to people he doesn't know, he would need an adult-only home with minimal visitors.

Other Dogs - Romeo has been dog tested here at SDR and will happily walk past other dogs without too many problems but can become standoffish if another dog comes too close.

Garden & Fencing - Romeo will need a good-sized garden to have a run and play in. He has vast quantities of energy to use up. A good secure fence all around is essential - the minimum height of 6 feet.

Romeo is an incredibly happy, playful boy once he has warmed to you. He will enjoy being part of an active household that can provide him with further training and plenty of mental stimulation. Owners should advocate for him and not put Romeo in situations he will be uncomfortable with.

Romeo will require multiple visits from everyone in the household ahead of the adoption.

The adoption fee for Romeo is £200.
