ABOUT AMBER
Amber came to SDR as she became a bit of an escape artist in her previous home. She has settled in well to her new routine here at SDR and slowly but surely is coming out of her shell and befriending all the dog carers.
Personality with people - Amber can be quite aloof when she meets new people. She often shy's away, choosing to take her time making friends. Once she has gained her confidence with you Amber is a sweet, calm well mannered little lady. Amber could live with children age 14 years and over, they will need to be mindful that she is not one for loud or bistouries play often finding a quiet where she can unwind and relax.
Personality with dogs & cats - Since being here Amber has met several of the other canine residents in our enclosed meadows. Amber does not like dogs that are too forthcoming, or pushy toward her. She will remove herself from these situations finding a quiet spot to call her own. With this being said she could live with a very calm & placid dog much the same as her. Amber has also spent sometime with our resident cat Clove. Amber could potentially live with cats as long as they are used to having a canine companion and also a safe space to call their own.
Walking, exercise & training - Amber does like her walks and enjoys exploring the countryside around her, with this being said a good couple of 1 hour walks twice a day would suit her well.
Amber CANNOT be let off lead at anytime when out and about as she has very little (if any) recall and will disappear into the distance on an adventure of her own. Also when Amber is by a road whether it's busy or not she will inevitably try pulling toward it. She will require a home with a garden for her to explore, and again she will need constant supervision as she will try her hardest to find a gap, or dig under the fencing in a bid for freedom. Ambers new family will all need to be 100% committed to her training needs with her walking on lead and her recall off lead. Hopefully with lots of physical and mental stimulation her urge to find her own adventures by escaping will one day become a distant memory for her.
Ambers new family & home - As mentioned, Ambers new family will need to be prepared for lots of training with her. She is an escape artist so anytime a door is open to the outside world Amber will need to be kept in a different room as she will (and has) make a bid for freedom. She is learning to settle with people and relax and is a frequent visitor to the staffroom at lunch time where you can find her settled on the sofa.
With Amber you are getting an aloof, escape artist whom you can't help fall in love with. She will, hopefully in time become more people orientated and less of a free spirit. In the past if you have owned a Spaniel and watched it frollock in the fields of Barley returning to you with with a simple call of their name then this is certainly not Amber. There will be no frollocking off lead for Amber for many months, untill you have taught her a 100% recall.
The adoption fee for Amber is £250.00
