Benji came to the centre with his four brothers after they who were born in another kennel. Their mother was removed from the home due to welfare concerns.
Benji is a bundle of joy, he is a friendly young dog, who has had a hard start in life. He has had limited socialisation and experience of the world so is looking for owners who have previously owned dogs and who are willing to support Benji with overcoming his fears.
Benji is full of life, he is a young dog who is inquisitive and into everything. He has spent his life in kennels so will take some time to learn how to live in a home. He is a really affectionate, sweet boy who loves to be around people. He enjoys cuddles and loves to give kisses in return. He can jump up so would be best suited to living with dog savvy children. Benji has a lot to learn and he will need his confidence building gradually around traffic and different places.
Benji will need his training starting from scratch this includes all of the basics including recall, house training and help settling into a home environment. He would benefit from attending reward-based dog training classes.
He will need owners who are around most of the time, he will need to be taught how to be left gradually.
Benji enjoys his food, he can eat very enthusiastically, to slow him down it is best to feed him with a slow feeder or scattering his biscuits.
He has had limited experience with other animals so far in his life. He has socialised mainly with his litter mates. He met a new dog for the first time and he wanted to play, although when the play got a little rough he was unsure and sat down until we helped him out and then he was keen to get back to the game. He would be most suited to live with a dog who is quite tolerant of puppy-like behaviours. Benji would benefit from an older dog who could be a confidence giver. It would be best if he was to live with a dog of his live or larger as he is likely to overwhelm a small dog. He is currently finding his feet and building his confidence with meeting new dogs.
The type of home we are looking for Benji would be a house with own garden based in a quieter location ideally out of town. He is looking for a home where his new owners will be able to support him with overcoming his fears and are able to continue to socialise him. He would benefit from a quieter home where he could we settled.
Benji is a really sweet dog with a lot of love to give to the right owners.
