Blue was sadly handed into rescue after his previous owners circumstances changed meaning she could no longer keep Blue. He has found coming into kennels quite upsetting and is desperate to find his new home.
Meeting people – Blue is a friendly lad and enjoys meeting new people and getting as much fuss and attention from them as he possible can. If you are crouched or sat down blue will do his best to climb onto your lap forgetting he is a 30kg dog.
Toys – Blue has not shown any interest in toys whilst he has been with us. He has found the whole experience a daunting and stressful. His previous owner reports that his favourite toys are rope toys and tennis balls.
Food & Treats – Blue has not been a great eater since arriving. We have continued to feed him on Arden Grange Senior as that is what he was fed in his previous home. We have mixed various different meats in to encourage Blue’s appetite but he still grazes on it throughout the day.
Walking – Blue despite being a senior dog can be relatively strong on the lead, but walks well with the use of a head collar. Blue really enjoys being out of his kennel with his handler and taking in the sights and smells around him.
Travel – Blue does not travel well in a car and does become quite anxious and stressed. Owners will need to be prepared for this and help Blue overcome his anxiety of travelling in a car by doing some desensitisation work and build up his exposure slowly.
Dogs – Blue previously lived with his Mum, Dad and Sister. We have introduced Blue to other dogs whilst he has been with us. He doesn’t really interact with them and is quite happy going about doing his own thing or having attention from his handler. He maybe able to live with another calm, senior dog pending a couple of successful dog mixes.
Children – Blue has grown up with children in the home but now he’s in his senior years he would be better suited to respectful children aged 11 and over who are sensible around dogs and understand when to give them space.
Garden & Fencing - A nice secure garden with 6ft fencing would be a real bonus for Blue so he can potter about.
Blue is looking for a calm and quiet home that will give him the time he needs to adjust as he has found coming into kennels quite distressing. He is such a loving and friendly boy who will no doubt repay his new owners with all the affection he has to offer. He’s not used to being left ‘home alone’ as he always had his canine pals with him, so new owners will need to be around a lot to start off with and help Blue be comfortable and confident when being left for short periods.
Blue will require a minium of two visits from the entire household ahead of the adoption process.
The adoption fee for Blue is £140
