Meet sweet little Bruce, who came to us as his previous owner had to work more hours which in turn meant leaving him home alone for longer periods.  The previous owner made the hard decision to rehome Bruce through us at SDR so we can find him a new family who will have the time he needs. When Bruce first arrived he was very quiet for a few days but with time and love he is now used to his new routine and has come out of his shell.  Bruce loves seeing all the dog carers around and loves to get fuss from them all.

Walking, Exercise & Traffic: Bruce loves going out for his walkies and just being out in the fresh air.  He does walk well on lead but at times (ie when he sees a squirrel) he will pull strongly on the lead to try and catch them and some birds as well. Bruce would benefit from going out to exercise/explore between 1 to 2 hours daily as he is a little over weight. With traffic Bruce is not fazed.

Food, Toys & Training: Bruce loves his food and will eat all his meals in one go. As he is very food motivated this will help new owners build a good bond with him and help in his training. Bruce loves to play with toys, especially tug and play fetch. When he gets overstimulated/excited he may start to try and mouth your hands or feet, typical Stafford behaviour, but with a firm no he will stop.  Once settled in a new home with a good routine and a lot of training, the mouthing will calm down and will hopefully stop. Bruce also knows a few little tricks already like sit, down and paw.

Other Dogs & Cats:  We have dog mixed Bruce with a few other dogs here at SDR.  He is not bad with other dogs but when he does want to play he is very boisterous, very mouthy and vocal too, but when going for a walk he is a lot calmer and takes no interest with the other dog walking next to him.  We introduced him to our cat Clove and he took too much interest in her with his prey drive, so Bruce is best to be the only pet in the home.

Owners Experience:

Bruce is looking for owners with experience with similar breeds, who will understand him more and be willing to give him the time, training and most of all love, cuddles and of course a Sunday roast now and again after a lovely long walk.

Type of home: In the home Bruce would need a 6ft fence as he can jump high when he wants to.

Can you give this sweet little dog his forever home?

Bruce will require two visits from every member of the household.

The adoption fee for Bruce is £250.00
