Bouncy Bruno came to us due to a change of circumstances in his previous home. He’s a devilishly handsome boy whose boundless energy is matched only by the amount of love and affection he gives! Once he’s tired himself out you are left with a lolloping lump of a lab who loves a good tummy tickle.

Owner experience – Bruno is looking for an owner with previous dog experience to ensure his youthful energy is properly managed and, given his age, he’ll need continued socialisation and training. Along those lines, we’d also need any young children in the home to have had previous experience with a large dog.

Personality with people – Bruno will excitedly bounce over to greet you and whilst still a puppy he does have some heft, so young children and people with mobility issues should be cautious. He carries his boundless energy into everything he does, in particular meeting a new person who will be subject to a barrage of sniffs, licks and jumps! Once he’s calmed down, he tends to lean into you demonstrating trust and love before rolling onto his back asking for tummy tickles!

Personality with dogs – Having had a number of dog mixes, excitable Bruno demonstrated relatively strong communication skills and was able to effectively match his energy to the other dogs, albeit being more prone to escalating with the higher energy dogs. We could see him living with a mature female so long as the energy levels are on par. Any adoption with another dog in the house would of course be reliant on the successful passing of multiple dog mixes.

Training & Exercise – Attention and food work well as motivations for Bruno meaning training should be effective and a great opportunity for mental stimulation to burn off some of his energy! On lead Bruno does pull and with his size and strength he’ll need loose lead training. He also has a habit of suddenly darting forwards so it’s key to keep a tight grip on the lead. Alongside roads Bruno tends to shy away from traffic, particularly larger vehicles, this fear likely a result of not enough de-sensitizing early on and again something for his new owner to work on. When it comes to play, he bounds around excitedly chasing (but not returning) thrown balls or engaging in a game of tug before he flops down chewing on a toy whilst catching his breath.

Home alone time – Whilst still a puppy Bruno will need to have frequent toilet breaks and as such, we’re saying home alone time should be 1 -2 hours max at the start.

Type of home required – Given his energy and size Bruno will benefit from a large garden with a secure 6ft fence.

Number of visits by potential adopters – Three visits minimum.
