Bunny came to us originally via the pound as an unclaimed stray. In general, she has settled into the routine well but like most dogs can find some parts of kennel life stressful, for her it tends to be when there is a lot of noise. She did get adopted out but returned six days later when they found her reactivity too much to handle.
Personality - Bunny is a typical puppy with a love for playtime and toys. She enjoys chasing and biting her toys, but she’s still learning not to use her teeth on people. This means she’s quite mouthy, and new owners should be prepared to work on this behaviour to ensure it doesn’t continue into adulthood.
Other Dogs - Bunny does display some barrier frustration when on a lead, which can lead to reactive behaviours. While she is friendly, she can also be rude and pushy towards other dogs which most dogs do not like. With proper management, she could live with another well-balanced and tolerant dog, but her owners will need to advocate for their other pet when her excitement becomes too much. It's essential to focus on training to address her barrier reactivity as soon as possible to prevent these behaviours from escalating into adulthood.
Training and Exercise - She needs an owner who can provide basic training, including toilet training, and focus on socialization to help her become more adaptable to different environments. This little girl has bundles of energy and needs someone who can meet her physical and mental needs. Despite being small and being referred to by people as a “teddy bear”, Bunny is not one to lounge on a lap all day; she’s ready for adventure! Please do not underestimate the time and training she will need. With the right direction, she could even excel in activities like agility.
Type of Home - Bunny could live with children aged 15 years and over, but it’s important for them to be confident with her mouthy behaviour. Bunny is looking for a dedicated owner who can guide her through her puppyhood. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has owned a dog before or has good knowledge of canine care. Experience in dog reactivity will be preferred too.
