The delightful Duchess is a stunning blue-eyed beauty who’s graced us with her presence due to her previous owner’s medical challenges not allowing time to properly care for her. Though slightly wary initially, she’s quick to then bond with you and is not afraid to use her paw to regally request chest rubs and cuddles whilst she lovingly leans into you. With her brilliant blue eyes and stunning white coat she is particularly eye catching but do be warned, a lot of that fur could end up recarpeting your house!

Owner experience – Owner’s with previous dog ownership experience. Important to note that on-lead she can sometimes pull with a fair bit of heft! Any active owners would be particularly welcomed by her as she loves running together!

Personality with people – Duchess is a truly lovely girl who shows her affection toward you by staying close and leaning into you. She can be a little slow to warm to people initially but once you’ve established a bond she offers up so much love! She likes to keep groups together and does vocalise when individuals leave, even if plenty of people still remain with her. It’s certainly not as extreme as traditional separation anxiety, perhaps more that she’s simply wanting to ‘keep the pack’ together!

Personality with dogs – She is initially quite excited when seeing dogs and if on lead will often pull toward them, so a note of caution when out on a walk. When formally introduced, she’s keen to sniff the other dog and doesn’t react negatively when the intrusive nose is reciprocated. She communicates and listens well, making it clear when she’s had enough play whilst likewise respecting the other dog’s boundaries. In her kennel she has been very calm and simply watches passively as other dogs walk past.

Training & Exercise – On lead she can pull and is fairly strong, she spends most walks moving from smell to smell ensuring she captures every scent! When seeing another dog or looking to explore a particular smell, she can pull quite strongly. Off lead in a secure area she enjoys loping around the space and tends to sniff each corner. Her recall is slightly hit and miss depending on what happens to be catching her attention at that precise moment. She has a good ‘sit’ often followed up with the offer of a paw. There doesn’t seem to be much play there, but she loves to run alongside you with the biggest smile on her face - perhaps an opportunity for canicross or just a running buddy for her future owner.

Type of home required – A good sized secure garden would be great to allow her to roam. She has shown a pertinacity to jump and scrabble at fences so a strong 6ft fence is a must.
