Eric came into our care in 2015 when his owner was no longer able to care for him. When he first arrived, he was a lively, happy 10-month-old puppy who enjoyed the company of both people and other dogs.

 

As Eric matured, it became apparent that he was finding the world increasingly difficult to navigate. Over time, his confidence declined and he began to struggle with situations and experiences that many dogs take in their stride. After careful consideration of his needs and welfare, we made the decision that rehoming is no longer the right option for him.

 

Eric is a sensitive soul who views and experiences the world differently. Those who know Eric best have the absolute privilege of seeing his soft side. Some days he is incredibly affectionate, seeking out attention, fuss, and the company of his favourite people. On other days, he prefers a little more space and enjoys simply observing the world at a pace that best suits him.

 

Learning to listen to what Eric needs each day has been an important part of developing a trusted relationship with him helping him feel safe and secure.

 

Eric particularly loves spending time in our enclosed meadows, where he can race around freely and chase his beloved ball to his heart's content. He also enjoys long walks through the woods, taking in all the sights and smells along the way, before returning to site for one of his favourite activities—cooling off and splashing about in the paddling pools.

 

Although life hasn't always been easy for Eric, he is deeply loved by the SDR team. We are committed to ensuring he continues to enjoy a life filled with kindness, enrichment, and the understanding he deserves.
