Introducing Harleigh who found herself here at SDR when her previous owners were no longer in the position to give her the time she required.

Personality – Kennel life for Harleigh isn’t something that she was ever use to, so understandably she did find it tough to settle in. At the beginning she was stressed but also worried about where she was and who the people looking after her were. It took a lot of time and patience of letting her come out in her own time and slowly build a bond, but that time has now paid off as these days she is more settled and happier to be with us. Since she has settled, she has shown us the sparky character she really is. This girl has so much affection to give but also cannot wait for someone to take her on plenty of adventures and someone to play her favourite game with, tug of war which she is enthusiastic about.

Training/Exercise - Coming from a home Harleigh already has some basics but there is room for improvements. Her recall is something that will need to be improved on before being let off lead in open environments as she isn’t one to come back first time. Although she is of small stature some people are likely to still find her strong on lead too as she will pull, loose lead walking will be beneficial. Don’t be fooled by her age, most people are shocked to hear that she is nearly 9 years old after meeting her, as this girl still has the energy of a 2-year-old. With this she will be looking for active owners, she isn’t the type to want to be at home all day and it has been said she likes to be mentally challenged.

Other Animals – Harleigh has been tried with multiple dogs while being with us. Overall, she is ok, mainly being quite neutral and not taking much notice at all. She does prefer dogs with a similar personality as her, who can respect her boundaries, as when they are too much it can make her worried and if they keep pushing, she will give a fair correction. We do feel it is possible that she could possibly live with another, calmer, well socialised dog providing multiple successful dog mixes.

Owner Experience – Someone with experience of caring for dogs will be best suited but it will be even more beneficial if someone has knowledge in staffies. Any children in the home will need to be confident around a dog who can be bouncy.

Home Alone – Harleigh was rarely left in her previous home, they did say when left she kept clean but would bark. Ideally, she will be best with someone who is around most of the day and can build her leaving hours.

The adoption fee for Harleigh is £250.00
