Introducing Jack, a gentle soul who joined us from the pound as an unclaimed stray. Although he has settled nicely into kennel life, he is a shy boy and can become anxious at times, especially around loud noises.
Personality - Jack has a calm personality and prefers a slower pace in life. When meeting new people, he tends to keep his distance while he assesses them. If you remain calm and avoid forcing interaction, he will eventually approach you to sniff you and stand nearby. Initially, he may appear worried or timid when you try to pet him, as he doesn't know how to react. However, he gradually builds confidence and will eventually ask for more pets by gently tapping you with his paw. His favourite spot to be petted is on his chest.
Interaction with other animals - We have introduced Jack to multiple dogs, and overall, he has done well. During the initial greeting, he may appear worried or unsure of how to react, especially if the other dog is more boisterous. However, he tends to do better with dogs that have a similar personality—well-mannered and calm. In these cases, he is likely to build the confidence to initiate play. If the other dog prefers not to engage, Jack is happy to respect that and do his own thing. Jack could live with other dogs but would need a home free from cats and small animals.
Training - Jack is still a young dog and will need an owner who can provide a good amount of physical and mental enrichment. You could consider trying out fun activities with him; however, as a Lurcher, he doesn't require as much stimulation as some higher-energy breeds. It’s important to note that we are unsure if Jack has ever lived in a home before, so new owners should be prepared to invest time in basic training.
Owner Experience - The ideal owners for Jack will be those who lead a quiet, slower-paced lifestyle, similar to his. It is beneficial for them to have a good understanding of canine care and behaviour; however, we believe that if the right owners come along, he could potentially live with first-time dog owners.
The adoption fee for Jack is £250.00
