This is the lovely Max, who is an ex-racer and looking for his forever retirement home to put his paws up. He is a very handsome and a whole lot of fun to be around; he has a way about him that just makes you chuckle and knows how to put a smile on your face.

He has been excellent when being handled, groomed or visiting the vet for his health exam. He enjoys meeting new people and is very sweet, well-mannered and calm but once he knows you he greets you with a very big excited tail wag.

Max is just a large pup at heart, and is still decompressing from the life he left behind. He will need calm and patient owners, who can bear in mind he hasn’t had any experience living in a home environment and will need time to settle.

We unfortunately don’t have a lot of history on Max but we know he was kennelled in his previous home and was said to be clean and loved squeaky toys.

Max would also like someone who can build up his leave time and of course a giant box of toys that he could throw across your room and play catch - just hide your slippers as we could imagine they would quickly make it into his box of toys too.

He is suitable to go with older children and gets on with other dog especially other Sighthounds. He has been very happy to run and play during his play-date so could potentially live with another dog of a medium size or/and bigger. However he cannot live with smaller dogs or cats.

Like most ex-racers and having a high prey drive which has been bred, encouraged and trained to chase ‘small furries’ he will need to be muzzled and on a lead when out walking. He walks quite nicely, at times by your side. However he can be strong on the lead when he sees something, or hears an unusual loud sound or he wants to investigate. Although he doesn’t seem bothered walking past traffic, people and other dogs - depending on their size and calmness.

Max will need a secure garden and has moderate exercise needs. Max would be happy with one hour or minimum of two 30 mins walks a day. Owners could look into hiring an enclosed dog field near them that he can sprint around safely.

As with most Greyhounds, Max will need introducing into the big wide world to make fantastic memories with his new owners. He will make a lovely and fun companion and an excellent couch companion.

Max will require a minium of two visits from the entire household ahead of the adoption process.

The adoption fee for Max is £200
