The delightful Ozzy was reluctantly brought in due to an unfortunate change of circumstance in his previous home. He was initially quite downbeat, clearly missing his aforementioned owner but we’ve since seen his loving and happy personality emerge. He’s very much a lap dog and loves a good chest rub whilst cheekily taking the opportunity to offer up a barrage of face licks! He often vocalises with soft whines and tends to stay very close, looking to you for comfort and security.

Owner experience – Owner’s who have previously owned a dog would be best suited to ensure his nervousness can be well managed.

Personality with people – Initially he is quite hesitant with new people, darting forwards for a quick sniff before retreating. However, he will quickly warm to you and, following a few treats and chest rubs, he will soon be happily offering up some face licks and refusing to shift from off your lap whilst serenading you with an assortment of whines!

Personality with dogs – When on lead we’ve on occasion seen an element of barrier frustration when he spots another dog, having said that sometimes he simply ignores the other dog! However, if the other dog vocalises in his direction, then Ozzy is quick to give it back with vigour! Off lead he does sometimes dive in for a quick butt sniff, but he doesn’t appreciate the action being reciprocated and swiftly trots away as elegantly as he can! If the other dog is still overly interested, Ozzy tends to back away further before dissolving into barks. Overall though, and despite his nervous tendencies, he is generally ok around other dogs but not suited to living with a canine companion so as to ensure Ozzy’s home remains his own safe space!

Training & Exercise – On walks Ozzy does tend to elegantly trot at the end of the lead but given his size / weight you wouldn’t describe it as ‘pulling’ and as such he’s easy enough to manage. At the start of the walk, he excitedly does 360s around you and you’ll need to become adept at swapping hands behind your back! However, after a short period he settles into a comfortable walk with occasional stops for sniffs enroute!

Off-lead Ozzy enjoys exploring, although he is slightly wary at first. He’ll vocalise with soft whines and keep circling back to the comfort and security of you.

According to his previous owner he has a repertoire of tricks / commands but we have not seen much on display, perhaps due to kennel stress. This does of course offer an opportunity for his new owner to bond with him and discover any existing tricks or teach some new ones!

Type of home required – A home with a safe enclosed garden would be ideal to allow Ozzy to feel comfortable, safe and able to fully relax in.

The adoption fee for the wonderful Ozzy is £250
