Meet Peach, a sweet collie in search of her forever home, ideally with collie enthusiasts that have the knowledge and experience to keep them happy but most importantly the quirks that can come with them. She hasn't had the best luck being found as a stray originally. She didn't have any history but was clear from the start she has a strong working instinct to herd, even if it's her own kind. After spending six months at another rescue in Birmingham she was sadly overlooked but hopefully she will have more luck in finding her home here in the countryside.

Peach is a clever girl with a heart of gold. She adores receiving affection from her humans, but also enjoys independence and doing her own thing. She has met lots of new people here and has been friendly and sociable. She is slow to warm up and guilty of being a bit of a one person dog, however, once you are ‘her’ person she becomes close and shows excitement to interact with you, so give her time and patience for her to bond. When outside she can be distracted by her surroundings, always on the go and alert. Inside she is very affectionate and loving. Her intelligence shines through in her actions, sometimes making her too smart for her own good.

In our paddock she loves nothing more than to run around. Her favourite toy to play with being footballs, making a very good goalie. She is not too interested in food and will spit treats out if not to her standard so will need some work on building this.

She does have some special considerations. Her herding displays behaviour towards other dogs and she does not understand how to play appropriately with them. Even though she hasn't been aggressive, her tendency to herd can make interactions with other dogs come off rude and awkward. With this in mind she is looking to be the only dog in the home but has been fine to have larger walking buddies here as long as she is on the lead. Peach also shows sensitivity having to go to the vets and requires a muzzle which she accepts having on for short periods.

Peach has some basic training under her belt but is very much a start from scratch. In her kennel she is very clean and doesn't seem distressed being left but time alone will need to be built up. She doesn’t herd people or cars and does not appear to be bothered by traffic or have any noise sensitivity. She travels beautifully and likes to look out the window the whole time. Where Peach does need work is her recall which is unreliable, making her difficult to catch if she decides to explore on her own, occasionally turning it into a big game of catch me if you can. She will also need work on her lead walking skill unless owners are interested in canicross which is more her pace and style. Furthermore, despite Peach having a very low food motivation here, she has exhibited food aggression in the past, which will need to be addressed with patience and consistent training.

Peach is looking for a calm committed adult household without any pets. She will need a garden with secure fencing and an active owner to enjoy adventures and continue her training.

The adoption fee for Peach is £250.00
