Piper came in with her sister Ruby and although they are kennelled together it will be best to rehome them separately. Piper has settled in very well to her routine here at SDR and is always happy to see one of the dog carers.
Personality with people - Since being here, Piper has met various carers and volunteers. She is very excitable and can be a little vocal when she first see's someone new. She is an affectionate little lady once she has built her confidence in your company. Piper does like a good fuss but is a little more independent than Ruby.
Personality with dogs/cats - Although Piper came in with her sister Ruby, her previous owner has said it would be best to rehome them separately. We have tried several dog mixes with Piper and she has been very vocal toward some of the dogs she has met. With this in mind she is best placed to live on her own and have some canine walking friends. Piper lived with a cat in her previous home and has met our resident cat Clove, she could live with a confident cat.
Walking & Exercise - Piper loves her walks and is best described as an "enthusiastic rabbit" and potential trip hazard. Initially Piper bounces along darting in different directions and stopping whenever and wherever she chooses. Once in her stride and when she's calmed down, she walks quite well on the lead, but there is still some pulling. She is not concerned by passing traffic choosing to take in the fauna & flora around her. She will need a good couple of walks a day up to an hour and time off lead in a secure garden for her to play and explore.
Family & Home - Piper would be suited to a family that have plenty of time and energy. She could be left up to 4 hours, this will need building up over time. She has plenty of energy and is always on the go, so a garden would be beneficial so she can have some quality time off lead. It would be best if her new family have previous experience of caring for a dog due to her vocal way when seeing other dogs.
Summary - With Piper you are getting an enthusiastic "pocket rocket" with vast quantities of energy. She is a happy go lucky little lady with lots of love to give.
Piper will require a minimum of 2 visits from everyone in the household.
The adoption fee for Piper is £250.00
