Meet Poppy, an endlessly affectionate young lady who found her way to us as an unclaimed stray from the local pound. Upon first arrival she had been quite quiet and a little stressed in kennels, but after being paired with an older, wiser, male beagle, Jimmy, she has settled, and her personality is now shining through.
Personality: When initially meeting a new person, she can appear timid, but it doesn’t take long to win her trust, usually just a few treats is the way to go. Once trust has been established, she becomes a cuddle monster, and she will seek out any affection she can find, so if you are looking for a dog to snuggle on the sofa with during the cold winter nights (or just any time of the year or day), then Poppy could be for you. During the times you aren’t on the sofa and want to be more active, Poppy is up for this too, and will happily enjoy going on new adventures, long walks and playing with all her toys.
Other Animals: As well as making many human friends she has made plenty of canine friends too. As previously stated, she is currently sharing a kennel with Jimmy who she has being doing great with. When meeting dogs she does well, she will try to play and if they accept, she will get the zoomies, loving a game of chase, but if they don’t want to play, she is also happy to do her own thing and leave them alone. As she has been doing so well with other dogs, we do feel she can go and live with new friends too. She will be looking for a cat free home as there are signs of a prey drive.
Training: Poppy doesn’t appear to have any basic training and isn’t likely to have lived in a home before, therefore this is something new owners should be prepared to work on as she is going to benefit from gaining new skills, including recall. She could even be a candidate for any activities i.e. agility new owners wish to do.
Type of home & Home Alone: We are open to the environment Poppy is to live in providing her needs are met. If there is access to a garden it should be fully enclosed with at least 6ft fencing. Ideally, we will be looking for an owner who has good understanding of canine care. We do feel providing time is built up slowly while adjusting to a new home she could be left for a few hours at a time.
The adoption fee for Poppy is: £250.00
