On the go Rex came to us from a loving family but due to a change of circumstances they had to make the tough decision to find Rex a new home.

Personality – Rex is a typical Patterdale with bundles of energy, he enjoys going for his walks but even more so loves to run around with zoomies and playing with his toys. When it comes to meeting new people Rex can be unsure and tends to react, but his love of food does help with these interactions. Although he will be happy to take treats off new people immediately, he does prefer the hands off approach until a relationship and trust has been established which may take a little longer.

Training/Exercise – Coming from a home Rex already has a good ground of basic training.  Ideally it will be beneficial to continue this and work on his reactivity that can sometimes occur towards people and dogs, depending on the situation. Rex, being a young terrier would appreciate someone who is not only going to focus on the physical enrichment but would also make sure to meet his needs of mental stimulation.

Other Animals – He has been introduced to a few of our dogs but overall seems to prefer his own space. He does react to all dogs through fencing but on walks it is hit and miss when he reacts, usually depending on a few things such as distance or personality of the other dog. Rex will be suited to a pet free home.

Owner Experience/Type of home – He will be looking for an owner who has had experience in the terrier breeds, even more beneficial if they have had a Patterdale before to understand his breed traits and needs. Rex has come from a quiet, adult only household, so ideally, we would like a home that could replicate this. He will be best suited to a house to live in too.

Home Alone - In his previous home he was left up to 8hrs, 2-3 days a week but with someone popping in to give him a break. We feel he will be ok with longer leaving hours again providing time is built up while adjusting to a new home.

Overall – For someone who loves a sparky Terrier, Rex truly will make a great companion who can bring energy to your home. Once trust has been formed you will see his real fun personality and end up loving him.
