Pre-Adoption Questionnaire

Here we have the handsome Rolo who unfortunately was handed into SDR by the previous owners after he started to show aggression towards one of them when they bought their new born baby home. When Rolo first arrived he was very unsettled and scared of his new surroundings. Rolo would not let anyone come near his bed for the first couple weeks, however after lots of time, patience and gentle encouragement he started to trust a few of the dog carers and his very kind, needy personality started to shine through. He is slowly settling down a bit more each day.

While Rolo was at the vets they did note down that his knees will be need to monitored due to having possible slipping kneecaps.

Rolo is a very needy little boy who needs time to gain someone’s full trust. We have found out he is a lot better meeting new people when outside his kennel but new people will still need to let Rolo come to them first. When Rolo has gained someone’s trust his sweet nature will come out and he loves nothing more than to sit on their lap and have plenty of fuss off them.

Rolo is still young and has plenty of energy, he loves walks, running and playing with his toys. Rolo was a very good boy while out on a walk and will mainly stick by your side, however he will sometimes have a bark at another dog he sees but will calm back down once passed. Rolo will need plenty of walks and time off lead in a secure area to play with his toys and run off lead. He will also need some extra training which will include recall training to help him become his best self.

Rolo is ok when being left alone and could be left between 1-4 hours providing it’s built up slowly while adjusting to a new home.

Rolo doesn’t always eat straight away and prefers to graze throughout the day and is well mannered when doing so. He loves high value treats such and chicken and sausages which can help with any further training.

We have dog mixed Rolo and he doesn’t like big bouncy dogs and will have bark at them and tell them off. He is good at first when meeting a dog of a similar size and is happy for them to be around but he does not like it when the other dog approaches his handler, so with this being said we suggest that he should be the only dog in the home but could have potential small calm walking companion as long as introductions are done slowly.

Rolo will benefit from a quiet home with previous dog experience, with full access to a fully enclosed garden with at least 4 foot fencing where he can let off some steam.

Overall Rolo is a lovely dog but takes time to gain someone’s full trust. When he trusts people his gentle, fun personality will shine through and with plenty of training will make a great companion.

Rolo will require a minimum of four visits from the entire household ahead of the adoption process.

The adoption fee for Rolo is £200
