Introducing the very cute little Sonny, who can be nervous at times but with some reassurance and taking things at his pace, and in the right home Sonny will slowly but surely come out of his shell and you will get to see a more confident little fella. Sonny came to SDR through the pound that we work closely with and since being here Sonny has settled in well and has gotten used to his routine here but is now ready and waiting to find his forever family to help build up his confidence and take many new adventures together.
Meeting new people & Dogs-
When it comes to meeting new people Sonny is a nervous lad and he is not a dog that likes a lot of fuss right from the get go. The best way for Sonny to get used to new people is to respect his space and take Sonny for walk and just sending some time with him and slowly but surely Sonny will come out of this shell and start coming over for a little fuss/ treats. While here at the centre we have done multiple dog mixes and find that Sonny is a bit more confident around other dog. When doing the mixes Sonny can be a bit more hesitant around some larger/ boisterous dogs but he still tries his best to keep up and join in. We feel that Sonny could live with a calm, well-mannered spayed female or another male dog that also loves to have a good run around together.
Training & Exercise-
Have to say that Sonny is one of many dogs that does actually walk beautifully on lead, and he is not worried about the on-going traffic. Sonny maybe a little dog but that doesn't mean he doesn't love to be out and about exploring new places. Sonny is looking for his new family to be quite active and willing to help in his Socialising and recall training. Sonny does walk beautifully on lead but new owners will need to be willing to put in some work in some other basic commands like his recall, toilet training, sit, wait etc.
As Sonny doesn't really respond to his name so new owners will need to have a lovely bond with him and to make sure that there have a 110% good recall before letting him off lead.
Owners Experience
Sonny is looking for his new family to of had several dogs before and it would be lovely for Sonny's new family to have a nice sized garden with secure 4ft fencing, and for his new owners to be willing make a nice secure area in the house that would just be for him, so when Sonny does feel uncomfortable/overwhelmed he has his safe place that is just his were he can feel safe.
Sonny will require a minimum of 3 visit from everyone in the household.
The adoption fee for Sonny is £250.00
