Giving dogs a second chance
Meet Taka, a sweet Lurcher looking for his forever home.
For more information call us on 01494 482695
Since being here at SDR Taka has settled in well to kennel life but now it’s time to find him a forever sofa to call his own. Even though he come to us as a stray, we can tell he has been in a home environment before due to his sweet nature. He knows sit and at times, paw. He is so very gentle when taking treats from people, Taka is just too sweet.
Meeting people & Walking -
When meeting new people Taka is instantly friendly and can get excited, he likes to jump up in your face to say his hello's. He doesn't do this all the time when he meets new people, mainly just when he gets over excited.
Taka is a gentleman when going for his walkies, he likes to plod along and loves to sniff nearly everything when out and about. With this said you will need to remember Taka is a Lurcher and does have some prey drive behind him so you will need to keep an eye open for anything that is small and fluffy, birds too. When he does spot something, he does like to stop and stare for a moment, Taka hasn't chased after anything whilst in our care but if you’re not careful he could easily pull you to chase something he has seen.
Dogs-
Whist here at the centre we have done multiple dog mixes with Taka and have found that he loves to have a good run around with another dog, however, when he has had enough, he is equally as happy to go and do his own thing. When playing he can be vocal at times and can also be a bit pushy when it comes to sniffing other dogs, but with a little telling off by the other dog Taka will just walk away and carry on sniffing. He could live with another placid dog, so easy going, likes to have a good play but also knows when to stop and be happy to go off and do its own thing.
Owners Experience-
Taka is looking for his new owners to have had some sight hound experience or had large breed dogs before. Taka could also live with children age from 12 years+, the children would need to be comfortable around a large breed and not mind occasionally getting jumped on.
Taka would like his forever home to have a nice sized garden for him to have a good sniff around in and also to have a good run around in. The garden will need to have a secure 6ft fencing.
Number of visits-
Taka will need a minimum of 2 visits from everyone in the household.
The adoption fee for Taka is: £250.00
