Teddy's Personality:

Teddy can be nervous around new people and prefers a gentle approach. He values his personal space and doesn’t enjoy being overly handled. However, once he feels comfortable and trusts you, Teddy becomes affectionate and loves a little cuddle. He’ll even roll over for belly rubs!

Behaviour and Training Needs:

Despite his small and cute appearance, Teddy has some specific behavioural needs. He doesn’t like being picked up or fussed over too much, and fast hand movements can trigger his reactivity. Teddy can walk calmly past other dogs at a distance, but he will bark and lunge if another dog enters his personal space. His new owners will need to be patient and committed to ongoing training to help Teddy with his dog reactivity and nervousness around new people, showing him how wonderful life can be.

Food and Treats:

Teddy is a grazer and prefers to eat throughout the day rather than having set mealtimes. He can be picky with treats, but he loves his squeezy cheese. In his previous home, Teddy exhibited some resource guarding with food and toys, but we haven’t observed this behaviour while he’s been with us at SDR. However, new owners should be mindful that he might guard his food and toys once he’s settled in his new home. It’s important to provide him with a quiet space where he can eat and enjoy his treats undisturbed.

Ideal Home:

Teddy is looking for his forever home with experienced owners who understand and have dealt with similar behavioural issues before. His new family should be patient and willing to work with him through his initial adjustment period. With time and patience, Teddy will flourish and become a loyal and loving companion who enjoys exploring the world without fear.
