Beautiful Tilly has been here a few months now and has settled well into our routine.  She is content with kennel life but would much rather have a home to call her own and enjoy her senior years.  She came to us from a family where she had spent her whole life, however, when moving homes the landlord wouldn’t allow the family to bring her, leaving them the tough decision to rehome her.

Medical –Tilly has had a few operations since being with us, most were just routine procedures, a correction of cherry eye, spaying and dental work. The other operation she had was a mastectomy, one lump was an adenoma that came back as benign, and the other lump had been a tubular carcinoma, low grade (grade 1). Margins were clear for both, and she has now been cleared by the vet.

Personality – Having been here for some time she has made many friends along the way, who all seem to end up loving her. In general, her personality is quite easy going, she likes to have a fuss and enjoys going on a few adventures too. Overall, there isn’t really anything negative to say about her, she’s just a nice girl who will make anyone a beautiful companion.

Training/Exercise – Tilly has come from a home and is already a well-mannered lady, but I wouldn’t say she has many commands as such. With her age it will be more accepting who she is rather than doing loads of training, but you can still put bits in place such as new boundaries you would like when she goes home. As for energy don’t be fooled by her age, this little girl is still spritely and she would happily go for some decent walks with you and visit new places.

Other Pets – We have mixed Tilly with a few other resident dogs here and overall, she does ok, but it does have to be managed introductions as she doesn’t always like them on the initial greet and may bark or snap at them. If the other dog is on the calmer side, she does eventually come around and has been off lead with a little time, even having a play with a 15-year-old male terrier. Tilly has never lived with another dog and it’s been noted she can be possessive over food; therefore, we feel it’s best she lives on her own but may be able to have some buddies to go out with.

Home Alone - Tilly was left alone for up to 9 hours with no break in her previous home and was said to be ok during this time. She does get initially vocal when being left in her kennel but then calms down, this could just be because she’s in a different environment. We feel once settled into a home Tilly will be ok being left for a few hours at a time but suggest any longer leaving times someone should pop in and let her out.

Owner Experience - While previous dog experience will be beneficial, we do not feel it is necessary but do suggest researching basic canine care, especially that of a senior canine.

The adoption fee for Tilly is £160.00
