Tilly is endearing, playful and incredibly affectionate in which she likes to jump up and bury her head in your chest as if she’s known you forever. She’s a true sweetheart with the biggest heart. It’s hard to walk past Tilly’s kennel without stopping, as she stands right at the door, eager and hopeful, as if she knows her person could be just around the corner.
With people, she’s confident, cuddly, and always eager, though she can jump up to receive her affection but nothing that can't be easily worked on. Tilly is a well-mannered girl overall, but would benefit from some ongoing work on her recall, motivation and engagement depending on what her new owner is looking for. She is sociable and eager to greet everyone she meets, though her size and enthusiasm may be best suited to older, confident children (12+). Tilly would suit a first-time owner who’s done a bit of research into lurcher quirks, or someone who’s had sighthounds before and won’t be surprised by her bursts of energy, prey drive, or love of a good nap.
Her background is a mystery but what we do know is she was found with two other dogs in a rural area, taken in as strays. While her past may not have been one of comfort, Tilly hasn’t let it dull her spirit. She’s a happy, sociable girl who loves a fuss and is always ready to make new friends both human and canine.
Known best for her playful nature, she enjoys the company of dogs, she is often the happiest when she’s got someone to walk beside or play with. Tilly enjoys playing, especially those who match her energy and play style. When she is more familiar she does like to play rough in a typical lurcher fashion though she may need some guidance with smaller or more sensitive companions so it doesn't become too one sided. She could live with another medium - large friendly dog that suits her personality or enjoy regular walking buddies.
When it comes to exercise, Tilly isn’t high energy, despite her zoomy moments. She’s more than happy with a stroll around the block, a wander through the village, or countryside adventure and hike. Once she’s stretched her legs, she settles well and is more than content to spend the rest laying on her bed. As with most sighthounds, a secure field now and then would be ideal for letting her stretch her legs safely, something many benefit from. She handled her first off-site walk with us around the village with ease, showing confidence around people, traffic, and new surroundings. She walked nicely on the lead however may be strong to some people if she is to become excited or is to lunge.
As her history is unknown so she may have not lived in a home before, so may potentially be needing a little time to adjust to her new routine and life, but she’s already showing signs of being a quick to adapt and an easy companion. Her new home will need a secure, minimum 6ft fenced garden and be secure. Once she’s had time to settle, Tilly has all the makings of one of those dogs who just gets you, curling up beside you like she’s always belonged.
Tilly is a truly lovely lurcher, gentle, funny, and full of potential. She’s ready to start her next chapter with someone who sees the spark in her, just as we do.
The adoption fee for Tilly is £250.00
