Tim could well be an abbreviation of timid as he is initially very wary but will offer up unending love once he becomes more comfortable with you. He’s a very handsome boy who came to us via the Police and has an uncertain background accordingly. His loving personality shines through a clouded past and he’ll be an absolute joy in a home! Are you able to open your doors to him?

Owner experience – With his calm temperament Tim could be a good option for first time owners. Having said that, when he is excited he can jump up at you often with pace on the back of zoomies, so a note of caution there!

Personality with people – Tim is a little timid at first but is quick to warm to you. He tends to initially ignore offered treats but will soon be happily taking them. He definitely has a nose for treats and will swiftly uncover any on your person, politely pointing out his interest by placing his muzzle in a treat pouch or pocket. If you take a seat, he enjoys walking over and, with a complete disregard for personal space, will stand with his face close to yours, sometimes half sitting on your lap. He is quite a big dog who can become excited and between zoomies and jumping up, could become something of a hazard to less mobile individuals!

Personality with dogs – Tim doesn’t react to other dogs whilst in his kennel, other than standing by his window and watching the comings and goings quite calmly. Following a couple of dog mixes we’ve noted the importance of Tim’s wants / needs being recognised and respected by any future canine companions. Whilst he can offer up some play, he does also enjoy his own space and as such we’ll need to undertake a number of dog mixes with any potential doggy roommates to ensure they can respect his boundaries and match his calm temperament.

Training & Exercise – Predominantly, Tim walks well on lead offering quite a sedate pace beside you. However, sometimes he can really put the brakes on when he doesn’t want to move! Occasionally you can coax him along with treats or excitement. More often than not, you’ll either have to wait patiently for him to decide to move or simply pick him up! He does weigh a bit so there is a need for a relatively strong / fit owner to ensure he can be carried if you ever find yourself in a predicament where he won’t move, but you really need him to! We haven’t seen much success with commands to date. However, this does present a great opportunity for the new owner to bond with Tim through mental stimulation and of course lots of training treats!

Type of home required – Ideally a home with a secure enclosed garden (6ft fence) to offer a comfortable space for him to explore and enjoy. Also important for some patience in the home as, whether simply a result of kennel stress here, or a lack of house training previously, he has been freely urinating in his kennel. Hopefully with an introduction to a stress-free home, easy access to a garden and more regular walks he’ll settle into a good toilet routine.

The adoption fee for Tim is £250.00
