Walter came to SDR via the local dog pound. His previous owner sadly passed away and Walter had no other family to go to.

Walter has settled in well to his new routine here at SDR. His first couple of days he was a little unsure of what was happening (but this is to be expected), but is now a happy little chap eager to meet all the dog carers

As you may have seen from the photos, Walter only has three legs (tripod dog). Here at SDR we have no background knowledge as to how this came about. This does not inhibit Walter in anyway. Except the fact that he will jump up and you will more than likely have to catch him to ensure a safe landing.

Personality with people - Since being here at SDR he has met with various volunteers. He is a happy little chap and always pleased to make new friends. Walter could live with children 12 years or over. Children will need to bear in mind, that because of his breed he is not the type of dog designed for lots of play.  This is not due to the forementioned missing leg, but more the fact that his stubby nose affects his breathing.

Personality with dogs/cats - Walter has had the pleasure of meeting Clove our resident cat.  He was rather verbal when meeting her and with this in mind he cannot live with cats. We have also have tried him with some of the other canine residents, after various dog mixes it is best for Walter to be the only dog in the home.

Walking & Exercise - Walter loves his walks and does get rather excited at the prospect of this. Fitting his harness can be a little bit of a struggle due to his anticipation of going out. Once out he walks reasonably well on the lead, he does pull somewhat and may occasionally jump up at you (again be prepared to help him with his landing). He is not fazed by passing traffic and enjoys taking in his surroundings. Walter will need a couple of walks a day for around 45 minutes each, plus time off lead in an enclosed garden so he can have a good play.

Family & Home - Ideally, Walters new family will have previous experience of French Bulldogs, just so they know the little quirks that come with his breed. Previously owning a dog is also acceptable as long as his new family are prepared to do research on the breed. Walter loves company so a family that have plenty of time to spend with him is essential. Walter could be left up to 4 hours but this will need to be built up gradually. His new home will require a garden as he does love to explore and have freedom to run off lead.

Summary - With Walter you are getting an energetic, quirky, lovable chap. He loves the company of people and will do his utmost to get onto your lap for a fuss and a cuddle.

Number of visits required before adoption- Walter will require a minimum of 2 visits from everyone in the household.

The adoption fee for the wonderful Walter is £250.00
