Giving dogs a second chance
Do you have the time and love to bring this energetic girl out of her shell?

The aptly named Zippy joined us from the Pound. She is a rather timid girl who, in certain scenarios, will look to you for comfort and security. Whilst she can sometimes be rather wary, she also has a healthy dose of curiosity and the two merge to create the delightful and affectionate package that is Zippy.
Falling in love will be instantaneous as she jumps up with her big brown eyes staring adoringly into yours!
Owner experience – Given her timid nature, we’d be looking for owners who have previously owned a dog.
Personality with people – When greeting a new person her tail will likely be down, and she’ll be wary and slow to interact. Giving her space and allowing her time to warm up to new people will be key. Once that initial bond is created (accelerated by the gifting of treats), she will stick to you like a shadow, particularly when out on walks or in scenarios where she is looking for that security.
Personality with dogs – You’re no doubt getting a picture of Zippy as a rather timid girl and this is likewise reflected when meeting other dogs. She doesn’t always hide in the corner and in fact she does sometimes offer play bows, but overall, she prefers to have her own space. This has been the case with most of the dogs she has met and, in particular, with the more boisterous and larger dogs. As such we’d need to explore any future furry housemates on a case-by-case basis through multiple dog mixes.
Training & Exercise – On lead Zippy keeps close to you and due to a wariness of her surroundings can sometimes become rather entwined between your legs. Ordinarily she demonstrates good loose lead walking, but can pause for in depth sniffs of lampposts, bushes and the like!
Off-lead Zippy is aptly named and when comfortable she’ll happily bounce around, akin to a newborn lamb! Her recall is 50 / 50, but when she does return, it is with a literal skip in her step as she bubbles over with excitement. She is yet to return a thrown ball, but with her play bows and bouncy nature it is likely she’d engage better in play in a comfortable home environment. She seems to have had no real training; lacking a sit, down etc. and accordingly this presents a good bonding opportunity for her future family as they work with her.
Home alone time – 1 – 4 hours, potentially extending to 4 – 8 hours with a break once settled.
Type of home required – Ideally a home with a secure enclosed garden to offer her a safe space to bounce around in with no cause for concern.
The adoption fee for Zippy is: £250.00
