Loki joined us after a conflict arose with a female dog in his previous home. We’ve found him to be a very loving, excitable and bouncy boy, but have indeed seen signs of aggression towards other dogs. Accordingly, you could describe Loki as very much a people dog rather than a dog’s dog! Upon meeting Loki’s new owner, they will instantly become the centre of his world and be forever supplied with unending love and licks!

Owner experience – We’d be looking for owners who have previously owned a dog and, given his dog reactivity, are able to safely manage high energy Loki in any difficult situations that arise.

Personality with people – Loki is an absolute delight when meeting new people and will be quick to offer up cuddles and kisses! You will very quickly become the centre of his world and will end up with the most devoted and loving boy following you around hoping for some attention. Be warned the moment his warm brown eyes lock onto yours you’ll fall for him!

Personality with dogs – There is a rather stark contrast between Loki’s affinity with people as opposed to his relationship with dogs. Given the reasoning behind Loki joining us we didn’t have overly high hopes for the dog mixes… and unfortunately our expectations were met. He displayed strong barrier and lead frustration initially, before becoming more aggressive the closer the dogs came. Out on a walk he lunges, jumps and spins when seeing another dog and it is paramount his new owner maintains a firm grip on the lead! We have begun muzzle training to ensure he does not pose a risk to other dogs whilst out on walks.

Training & Exercise – On-lead he does walk relatively well but would still benefit from some loose lead training. When something captures his attention, he can also pull quite strongly. Off-lead Loki enjoys chasing and returning a thrown ball, albeit often not dropping said ball until you throw a second! But with two balls you can get a good rhythm going and start to chip away at his energy supplies! Loki presents a good sit and whilst his previous owner suggested he did have other commands in his repertoire, we are yet to see these. But he’s clearly an intelligent dog and would definitely benefit from training with his new owner. He has minimal interest in treats and food but is motivated by attention and of course the high value squeezy cheese always works!

Home alone time – 1 – 4 hours.

Type of home required – Ideally a home with a secure enclosed garden to offer a comfortable safe space to play and explore with no threat of other dogs.

Loki will require a minimum of 2 visits from everyone in the household.

The adoption fee for Loki is £250.00
