Hi there, my name is Knight.  I would like to tell you a story about me and how I came to SDR along with a bit about what Im looking for in my new forever home.

So let’s begin, I was brought in by some members of the public that found me a stray and brought me to SDR. When my carer first saw me get out of the car she could clearly see that I was emaciated and had been mistreated. But no more, since being here at SDR my carer and the rest of the team have been giving me the care and love that I deserve and of course, lots and lots of food and water to help make me fit and healthy again the way I should be. My carer says that I’ve put some weight on but I still have a little more go.  Therefore I’m now ready to find my new forever home.

Walking & Dogs - My carer says I’m like a bull in a china shop while trying to get me ready for my walkies, however, as soon as my harness is on, I am all ready, I’ve got a lot of energy to get out so I do pull like a train and I do take my carer for a walk.  She does say after about 10 minutes the pulling calms down slightly but I’m a big strong lad.  While out walking I'm not bothered by the traffic. When I do see another dog I do like to try and pull towards the them at times to say hello.  Occassionally when the other dog starts barking at me I do bark back. I have met a few other dogs whilst being here at the centre. I do get on better with the ladies than the male dogs so my carer says that I can have some on lead walking female friends.  Off lead I don’t have any manners but maybe in the future I could live with another female dog as long as I have the right training behind me and learn good manners.

Food - When it comes to my meal times my carer says its like the hungry hippos games, (but can you blame me for loving my food so much.) When it is feeding time I do get very excited and I do like to jump around. My carer does try and get me to sit & wait for them to place my food bowl down but I cant wait that long I just like to get my head in the bowl straight away or at times I’m scatter fed to try and slow me down.

Meeting New People & Owners Experience - I can be nervous when it comes to meeting strangers and can be vocal at times, but once I’ve had a few treats and I’ve checked you out then all is okay.  I’m looking for experienced owners who have had cane corso's/ large breed dogs before.  My new owners will need to be able and willing to put in a lot of time, patience & effort when it comes to my training as I am roughly around 2 years old and I do act like a puppy.  I dont know my own strength/size so when it comes to training it will be starting from the very beginning like you would do with an 8 week old puppy.

Number of visits - I will need an minimum of 3 visits from everyone in the household.

Can you be my forever home and show me what life should be like?  I also hope you dont mind some big old slobbery kisses now and then.

The adoption fee for Knight is: £250.00

Claude came to SDR as a stray. On the whole he has settled in well to his new routine here and is always pleased to see one of the dog carers.

Owner experience - Claude will benefit from owners that are used to having a large, and sometimes boisterous dog around. He is going to need understanding owners that have plenty of time to help Claude learn new and to us, everyday experiences.

Personality with People - Claude is basically a very big puppy. He has met various staff members and volunteers whilst here. He can be a little shy to start when meeting someone new, and the best way to meet Claude is outside and with him off the lead so he can decide when he wants to come over and get to know you. Claude could live with children 16 years and over, this is because he can sometimes forget how big he is and get a little too excited when playing.

Personality with Dogs - Whilst here Claude has met some of the other residents. He is quite intense when meeting them and due to his size they can find him intimidating. Although Claude was a little full on, he was on the whole well mannered. We have discovered that he can be a little possessive and he did growl when there was a toy on the floor. With this in mind Claude is best suited to being the only dog in the home.

Training & Exercise - When out & about Claude walks quite well on the lead, he does pull somewhat but is not worried by passing traffic. He will need new owners that are capable of walking a dog of his size. Claude is not particularly fazed by passing dogs as long as they are respectful of him and show no aggression toward him.  (He will react if a dog barks at him, this soon passes once the other dog has gone). Claude seems to have very little training so this will also need to be addressed by his new family.

Time alone - 1 - 4 Hours, this will need building up over time. Claude can whine a little when first left.

Claude's new home & family - Claude is looking for a home with a good sized garden or better still someone with a farm. Claude loves being outside, and spending most of his day in the open air would be a joy for him. His new family will definitely need to be active, as mentioned he is an active dog who loves the great outdoors.

Minimum fence height will need to be 6ft and secure.

Number of visits required before adoption - Claude will require a minimum of 2 visits from everyone in the household.

The adoption fee for charismatic Claude is £250.00
