Bob is a lovely young boy who was returned to the rescue due to some behavioural changes in the home and the previous owners could not give him the attention he needed. He does loves his food and will need to learn some impulse control when other people eat as he does occasionally beg for your food.
Since arriving at SDR Bob has settled in well and formed bonds with his handlers. He is a sweet natured young boy who enjoys having fuss and attention. He walks well on the lead and is currently walked on a harness. We have found that Bob can be worried by fast or loud vehicles going past. With a little reassurance, Bob soon continues with his walk.
He has been mixed with a couple of different dogs and has responded well to them. Initially he was a little worried by another male of a similar size, but when re-introduced a short time later, Bob offered a play bow. Bob is instantly more relaxed meeting smaller females and we feel he could live with a playful, smaller female pending a couple of successful dog mixes.
We would recommend that new owners build up Bob's home alone time gradually so he doesn't worry when being left on his own. He will need to be exercised prior to being left and ensure he has things to keep him occupied.
Bob will require some basic training, including recall training before he is allowed off lead in open spaces. The home alone time will need to be built up gradually as he can be destructive in the home if left for too long.
Can you offer this lovely boy a loving and permanent new home?
