Boss may be a little dog, but with that comes a massive personality. Once Boss gets to know and trust you he shows off his playful and cheeky side. It’s important to take things slowly with him as he can be worried and anxious at times.
He walks really well on the lead, but getting him harnessed up for a walk was a bit of a challenge initially as Boss can be worried by being handled so will often try to remove himself from the situation. We have had to ensure we do things at his pace and make it highly rewarding for him.
His favourite pastime is playing with a squeaky toy or a ball as he will entertain himself and throw them about, but he prefers it when his handlers interact with him during play. He also enjoys rolling around on the grass entertaining himself. Boss must be offered an exchange when playing as he can guard his toys a little – but offer him another toy or treat and he is more than happy to leave his current one.
Boss prefers his own space from other dogs, so he will be looking for a home with no other pets. He will ignore most dogs but if they react to him, or invade his space, he will give them warning.
Boss is looking for an understanding home, that will provide him with a safe space at home, take things slowly with him and not force him into situation he is not comfortable with. He would benefit from having access to a fully enclosed garden as Boss will not be able to go off lead until he has a solid recall taught to him.
Can you offer this lovely boy a loving and permanent new home?
