The three most suitable homes for Terry will be identified and graded 1st 2nd and 3rd
The 1st applicant will be invited in to talk to a Dog Carer regarding Terry. If the Dog Carer and applicant are happy, the process will proceed to them meeting Terry. If this meeting is successful the usual adoption process will apply from there on (as per the 10 steps to adoption included on the pre-adoption form)
If for whatever reason the 1st application does not proceed, we will then move to the 2nd applicant and thereafter to the 3rd.
Applications will close on SUNDAY 9TH AUGUST AT 4PM and the successful candidate will be contacted by MONDAY 10TH AUGUST AT 4PM to arrange an appointment to meet Terry
Please note we will not contact unsuccessful candidates.
More information about Terry
Terry arrived to SDR as an unclaimed stray and has settled into kennel life amazingly! He is a very lovely boy who wants to give everyone all the love he possibly has!
Terry is looking for owners who could start his training and who have also had whippet/lurcher experience.
When Terry has come across new people, he is instantly friendly and is more than happy to go up to them for a cuddle and some treats. He has shown to be a very confident boy in all areas, and we think he would have no problem settling into a new home. Terry is also very clean in his kennel, so this shows he may be house trained, but this could change in a new environment.
Terry loves to explore new surroundings and will happily return to his handlers for a cuddle or a treat but his recall will need work before he is let off in an open area, as he currently doesn’t respond to his name. Terry also requires basic training as he currently doesn’t know any commands yet, but he could go really far with training. We recommend he attends group training classes as his love for other dogs could help motivate him into learning too.
When mixing Terry with other dogs, he has shown to be really friendly with both male and female dogs and loves to play with them. Terry could live with another dog with a similar play style.
When left unattended, even for a short period, Terry has shown to be able to jump over our 6ft chainlink fences. Therefore, Terry will not be able to be left unattended in the garden and must have a longline on. As Terry can see through our fences, it may be different with a wood panelled fence where he can't see through. Due to him being so bouncy, the minimum fence height required is 6ft, but the higher, the better!
In a loving spacious home where he can do zoomies, Terry would fit right in and would love to come and cuddle and the end of his day full of exploring.
