Trustee - Digital/IT

• Relevant experience in IT management, infrastructure, systems governance or cybersecurity,
• Ability to assess IT risks and explain technical issues clearly.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend practical secure, and proportionate  solutions.
• Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with trustees, employees and volunteers.
• Show a genuine commitment to SDR’s core purpose, values and ethics as well as an enthusiasm to devote the appropriate time and attention to the role.
• Demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.
• Uphold confidentiality, proactively disclose any conflicts of interest and adhere to professional standards of behaviour and integrity.

What the role involves:

As a trustee, you will help ensure our technology is secure and effective to support our vital rescue work. You will contribute to the charity’s strategic direction while offering practical guidance on IT and digital matters. Working with the Board and the wider team, you’ll help improve systems, strengthen governance, and ensure the organisation operates efficiently and effectively.

Please note Trustees are expected to: 

• Attend monthly evening Board meetings, the Annual General Meeting and relevant subcommittee or ad hoc meetings, contributing sufficient time and effort to projects, fundraising and wider trustee duties.
• Subscribe to membership of the charity
• Visit the centre when required to stay connected with our operations and the dogs in our care.
• You must be willing to provide the data required to be added to the Charity Commission website and as a trustee provide a brief biography for the SDR website.
• A commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
