Centre Manager

Salary:    £40,000 - 42,000 per annum

Hours:   8:00am to 5:00pm - starting with a Monday, a 6-day week with the Wednesday off followed by  a 4-day week with the Monday, Saturday, and  Sunday off 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and take the lead in providing a first-rate user service, cultivating a positive culture that welcomes the public. 
  • Line-manage and motivate a successful working team including the Head of Rescue & Rehoming, P/T Administrative Assistant, and P/T Fundraising and Events Lead.
  • Manage a tight budget and control expenditure within budgetary limits.
  • Support the growth of the charity’s digital profile to raise awareness to include Instagram, Facebook, X, and the company website. 
  • Undertake administrative tasks and maintain accurate information database records, adhering to GDPR protocol.
  • Support the growth of fundraising activities and raise public awareness of the importance of volunteers and donations.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards and other policies

In a typical day you will: handle emails, meet visitors, lead a team meeting, manage performance, assist volunteers, cover reception, check for hazards, write for social media or a policy, compile Excel data for a report deadline, attend to the hand-in of a dog, order supplies, process invoices, and empty waste bins all while handling calls and queries. Knowledge and Experience                         

Essential:

  • Proven management experience (site, facility, or department level)
  • Strong track record in the effective leadership, management and development of a team, including recruitment and performance management
  • Proven experience of working in an environment where the need to control costs and deliver a high level of service are important
  • Capable of managing, prioritising and actioning a high workload and multiple issues and tasks and working to deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word and can analyse data 
  • Current working knowledge Health and Safety practices
  • Valid full UK driving license and access to transport are mandatory

Desirable:

  • Charitable/voluntary sector experience
  • Knowledge of dog welfare and experience handling dogs safely
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks and procurement
  • Experience in fundraising and volunteer coordination
  • Understanding of Data Protection and digital transformation initiatives
