Volunteer Receptionists

Main Purpose Of The Role

To enable the centre to be as efficient as possible, supporting the work of the charity by assisting with reception duties

To help promote our aim of safely re-homing unwanted dogs 

Main Activities / Tasks

  • Answering the telephone & dealing with voicemails
  • Greeting visitors & handling queries
  • Handling donations - goods & money
  • Restocking reception forms
  • Making up adoption packs
  • Shredding, filing & laminating
  • Clean & tidy reception area including offices & public toilet
  • Replenishing dog water bottles

The above is not exhaustive and volunteers may be asked to take on other tasks to support and assist the smooth running of the organisation

Skills / Experience

  • Excellent customer service skills, good telephone manner and a confident approach with the public
  • Experience of an office environment and various administration tasks
  • The ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Previous experience of dealing with the public is ideal
  • The ability to multi-task 

The Person

You should be reliable, with an organised and flexible approach.  You should be confident and approachable and be able to work in a busy environment, where multi-tasking is essential.  You must be happy to work within Stokenchurch Dog Rescue’s policies and procedures and empathise with the aims of the organisation.  As representatives of Stokenchurch Dog Rescue the image you present is important so you must be polite and friendly to the public.

Training and Support

  • Induction, health and safety and task specific training
  • Ongoing support, training and development opportunities
  • Develop your knowledge and skills and contribution to local animal welfare
